
Felipe Biesek began his musical studies at the age of 8, starting with choral singing and participating in various choirs in Paraná and Santa Catarina. In 2010, he joined the Choir of the Federal University of Paraná, quickly becoming assistant conductor, leading the group in numerous concerts. In 2017, he directed the season dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi, and in 2018, he conducted requiems by Fauré, Dvorak, and Mozart.
As an instrumentalist, Felipe works as a guitarist, flutist, accompanying pianist, and has a significant production with early music plucked instruments such as the Lute, Theorbo, and Baroque Guitar.
A graduate of the School of Music and Fine Arts of Paraná, Felipe stood out as a guitarist in solo recitals and 21st-century chamber music. In 2021, he completed his postgraduate studies in orchestral conducting. His most notable performance as flutist was was in 2019, serving as concertmaster of the symphonic band and principal flutist of the symphony orchestra at the Cascavel Music Festival.
In 2016, he founded the vocal ensemble 'Tempo do Sentir,' dedicated to performing works from the Renaissance and the 20th century. In 2019, he led the ensemble in recording a CD featuring works by Lassus, Banchieri, Monteverdi, and Rachmaninoff.
In 2017, Felipe was the standout student at the Szolnok Masterclass in Hungary, earning an invitation to conduct Gala concerts in Szolnok and Budapest, as well as a series of concerts in Marfu, Szolnok, Tiszaigar, and Tiszaörs.
Following his participation in the 2022 edition of Femusc, in 2023, he returned to the festival as assistant conductor for the orchestras and the production of the operas Orfeu by Monteverdi, Orfeu by Gluck, and the staging of Bach's St. Matthew Passion, under the guidance of Alex Klein, Femusc's artistic director.
In 2022, Felipe Biesek was appointed assistant conductor of the Ufpr Philharmonic Orchestra, collaborating with its artistic director, composer Harry Crowl, and its principal conductor, Marcio Steuernagel.
In 2023 he received a scholarship from the Campos do Jordão Festival, where he studied with Henrik Shaffer and Rebecca Tong, conducting Mahler's Symphony No. 5, Beethoven's Pastoral, and overtures from the operas Fosca, Il Guarany, Salvator Rosa, Nabucco, and Forza del Destino.
Since 2023, Felipe has a fellowship in the prestigious Osesp Conducting Academy, receiving guidance from conductors such as Thierry Fischer, Marin Alsop, David Robertson, Giancarlo Guerrero, Louis Langrèe, Neil Thompson, and Wagner Polistchuk.
Felipe Biesek is also recognized as one of the most important opera conductors of his generation, responsible for staging operas like Bellini's La Sonnambula and the Brazilian contemporary opera Anjo Negro by João G. Ripper.
He has conducted renowned orchestras such as the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra, Curitiba Chamber Orchestra, Goiás Philharmonic Orchestra, State University of Londrina Symphony Orchestra, Concepción City Chamber Orchestra in Chile, and São Paulo State Youth Orchestra. He has also conducted choirs including the Osesp Choir, Bela Bartók Chamber Choir, Kodály Choir of Debrecen, and the UFPR Madrigal Choir.
Felipe is also active in Early Music, whether playing basso continuo or solo repertoire. He collaborates with orchestras, ensembles, and festivals throughout Brazil and Latin America. He played the Brandenburg Concertos with Jessica Park under the direction of Ricardo Kaji, performed the St. Matthew Passion under Alex Klein's direction, and recently played in Francesca Caccini's opera La liberazione di Ruggiero dall'isola d'Alcina directed by Natália Laranjeira.
